“We offer the very best in locally sourced food, including Tweedsmuir pork and lamb, and game from the Tweed Valley. We grow our own fruit and vegetables for the table and have eggs from our free-range chickens”
David & Rosemary Bannister, proprietors
Located in the heart of the Scottish Borders
Victoria Lodge is an impressive home in a stunning setting, surrounded by glorious woodland and overlooking the Talla Reservoir. Built in 1897 as the flagship meeting place for the trustees of the Edinburgh Water Company, it has been sensitively modernised to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
On arrival guests are offered tea and home-made cakes in the magnificent panelled drawing room where, in the winter, a log fire crackles in the hearth.
Furnished in the Arts and Crafts style to reflect the period of the house, Victoria Lodge retains fascinating features such as the listed Gentlemen’s Cloakroom with wonderful marble sinks, tiled walls and old-fashioned lavatories and the Butlers Pantry with its original pitch pine cupboards and shelves.
Whether it’s a romantic break away, a celebration or base for touring the area Victoria Lodge is the perfect place to stay.
Before retirement, David was a partner in a law firm and is a keen cook, specialising in game dishes. He also fishes, shoots and tends the kitchen garden. Rosemary is formerly a cookery demonstrator and home economics teacher, and both she and David delight in ensuring their guests enjoy delicious food in a most beautiful setting.
